12:00 – Garbine Muguruza Win vs Maria Sharapova
I think Muguruza is now the woman to beat this week, but I don’t think Sharapova will be the one to do it. Muguruza is most vulnerable during the early rounds of a grand slam event and now she’s in the quarters she’s going to be incredibly difficult to beat. Sharapova hasn’t been at her fluent best throughout this tournament and I think she comes unstuck in this one.
12:00 – Angelique Kerber Win vs Simona Halep
This should be a great quarter-final match between two evenly ranked players. I think Kerber will edge it though and move into the semi-finals. Kerber is yet to drop a set in the tournament and she’s come through some tricky opponents, something that will only be a positive for her. The German has also won both of clay court meetings between these two in the past, and I see her making it 3/3 in this one.
15:00 – Juan Martin del Potro Win vs Marin Cilic
Juan Martin del Potro has dominated Marin Cilic in the past, something I can only see continuing in this one. The Argentine leads their head-to-head record 10-2 in all, including the last seven straight. Del Potro is also unbeaten on clay against Cilic, winning all four of their matches on this surface in straight-sets. I think del Potro once again gets the better of the Croatian.
15:00 – Rafael Nadal 3-0 Correct Score vs Diego Schwartzman
I think Nadal records another comfortable win over Schwartzman to reach the semi-finals here again. Nadal has dominated the past meetings between these two, winning all five and dropping just one set in the process. Nadal also leads Schwartzman 3-0 in clay court matches, with the Spaniard yet to drop a set against Schwartzman on clay. Nadal hasn’t dropped a set so far this tournament, and I don’t see that changing here. Nadal in straight-sets.
