Tonight’s game will be a real character test for the Portland Trail Blazers who put their long 10-game winning streak on the line as they host Lebron James and his Cleveland Cavaliers.
Portland surprised a lot of people with their recent play and with 10 wins on the bounce they went up all the way to 3rd position in the Western Conference standings which would put them against the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 1st round of the playoffs, assuming the post season started today.
Cleveland is in a bit of a different position recently, struggling against both LA teams but coming back and beating Phoenix a couple of nights ago. They have lost the last 3 trips to Portland, but did beat the blazers quite easily in the 1st match-up of the season 127-110 behind 24 points from LeBron James and 19 from Kevin Love, who is yet to come back to the line-up after broking a bone in his hand.
This will also be duel between two superstars who are currently locked into 4th place in the scoring charts this season. Both James and Damian Lillard average 26.9 points per game, but the Portland guard is in slightly better form recently with an average of 34.5 points during the last week which earned him player of the week honors in his conference.
With just 3 wins in their last 7 games, the Cavs bounced back with a win over Phoenix the other night, Lebron had yet another triple double with 28 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists. It will be interesting to see if he can continue playing at such a high pace yet again tonight.
All winning streaks must come to an end some day, but with the way the Cavaliers are playing right now I just cannot see them ending Portland’s tonight. I expect Lillard and his team to get revenge for the defeat they suffered earlier in the season and I’m going with Portland Trail Blazers -5 Point Spread .
Not much D is played by either team and because of this it should be a high scoring game tonight. The Cavs average 110.3 ppg while they let in 110 ppg. Portland score 105.8 ppg and allow 103.1 ppg. The 1st meeting of the season saw a combined 237 points scored which makes me really confident in backing Over 222 Total Points .
