The out-of-form New York Knicks are hoping to end a 8-game losing streak as they host one of the biggest surprises of the season so far, the Philadelphia 76ers.
Ever since Porzingis went down, the season has been lost for the New York Knicks who are out of the playoff race in the East and are positioning themselves for the draft lottery this upcoming summer. Right now they are in 11th place in the standings with a 24-44 record which is only 4 games better than last placed Atlanta.
Philadelphia on the other hand is 6th in the standings right now which would mean they would face the Indiana Pacers in the 1st round of the playoffs as of today. Joel Embiid and co. are 1.5 games back of the 5th placed Wizards and 1 game ahead of the Milwaukee Bucks in 7th position.
Their recent form is also not something to brag about as they are only 5-5 over their last 10 games and are coming off of a tough home loss to the Indiana Pacers despite a 29-point effort from center Joel Embiid and a triple double from point guard sensation Ben Simmons.
Tonight’s game against the Knicks is a big one for Philly and look for them to be extra focused as they return home for the next three games after this one.
In the two games played earlier this season Philadelphia managed to win both. It was 105-98 in the 1st meeting at MSG which the Sixers followed up with a convincing 108-92 win in their own gym about a month ago thanks to 24 points from Dario Šarić.
I expect Philadelphia to come out strong tonight against the short handed Knicks who have lost their last two games by 13 and 26 points. However, games are almost always close between these two teams at MSG and because of this I’m going with New York Knicks +9.5 Point Spread .
In the two earlier games this season the two teams combined for 203 and 200 points. I see the trend continuing tonight and I’m going with Under 217.5 Total Points .
